Can my patients buy additional pairs of PAL orthotics direct from PAL?
No. Orthotics are medical devices. We need the medical interface of the health care provider to construct additional pairs or to make adjustments to the original sets.
What is the expected life of the PAL orthotics that I order for my patients?
Although the cover and padding materials may need refurbishment earlier, your patients can anticipate about 5 years wearing time for most devices. There are many factors that affect the useful life. We have seen orthotics last as long as twenty years! However, a realistic estimate for most wearers is closer to 5 years.
What devices are recommended as most effective to treat the cause of functional Hallux limitus?
Unlike medications and cortisone injections that are useful in treating the pain associated with the condition, functional orthoses are designed to treat the cause of the condition. These devices will usually fit into the patient's regular shoes and correct the underlying functional problem with the toe joint. PAL Orthoses cannot reverse damage that may have already occurred, but may slow or stop additional damage to the joint.
What PAL device is recommended for a patient who has a flexible cavus deformity and is required to stand for long periods during the work day?
We have a Pro-Tech fit which provides shock absorption and comfortable control for excessive pronation without excessive rigidity.
